Equinor has awarded a letter of intent to Odfjell Drilling for the drilling and completion of the Breidablikk venture with Deepsea Aberdeen. The letter of intent is topic to finalization of contract.
The contract is ready to start throughout spring 2022 with a scope of fifteen agency wells and an estimated length of two.5 years. In addition, there are 9 non-compulsory wells. The approximate contract worth for the agency scope is USD 290 million (excluding any built-in companies, modifications/upgrades and mobilisation/demobilisation charges). Deepsea Aberdeen, an ultra-deepwater semi-submersible was constructed by Daewoo at its Opko Shipyard in South Korea. Daewoo delivered the unit in 2014. Deepsea Aberdeen, contracted by BP, is presently prepared stacked in Agotnes, Norway.
In April 2015, Deepsea Aberdeen began a seven-year contract with BP within the UK North Sea. The contract was terminated in September 2020. The unit is anticipated to drill three wells for Wintershall DEA in 2020 on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
