Chinese utility Hubei Qingjiang Hydropower Development Company has chosen expertise agency Hitachi ABB Power Grids to modernize its Geheyan hydropower plant in central China.
Upgrades will embody the set up of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) and an internet monitoring resolution to allow the plant to proceed to ship secure and clear power to the area.
Hitachi ABB Power Grids will exchange third-party GIS, improve and set up 550-kilovolt (kV), 220-kV GIS and high-voltage bushings for transformers to reinforce the reliability of the facility plant and decrease energy losses.
The 1.2GW system is the spine energy plant for peak load shifting and frequency regulation in central China’s energy system.
The plant began working in 1994.
