Offshore companies supplier Mermaid Maritime has established an Offshore Transportation, Installation (T&I), and Decommissioning companies enterprise unit as a part of its diversification technique, concentrating on work alternatives within the Gulf of Thailand.

Mermaid stated on Tuesday that this new enterprise unit includes seasoned Thai personnel with a minimal of 10-20 years of working expertise in oil and fuel operations and offshore amenities building within the Gulf of Thailand.

The scope of companies will embody new platform and pipeline set up and decommissioning to satisfy demand from main oil operators in Thailand and the encompassing area.

Chalermchai Mahagitsiri, Mermaid’s Chief Executive Officer, stated: “The potential for future decommissioning work is anticipated to extend in 2021 and proceed over the subsequent 10-20 years.

“In specific, the Gulf of Thailand has over 400 offshore platforms with an estimated 100 platforms to be authorised by the Thai authorities for decommissioning over the subsequent 10 years.

According to Mermaid, a significant oil and fuel operator in Thailand has already initiated a decommissioning program for 49 platforms in the course of the interval from 2020-2023.
