Southern Power has awarded a mixed 640-MWh vitality storage challenge to Mitsubishi Power Americas and Powin LLC.
The two-site utility-scale battery challenge is designed to reinforce California’s grid reliability with further and versatile useful resource capability paired with renewable energies. Southern Power is the wholesale vitality wing of Atlanta-based utility proprietor Southern Co.
The battery vitality storage programs (BESS) characterize among the largest retrofits of photo voltaic and storage in North America, the businesses mentioned. Southern Power’s 205-MW Garland Solar Facility in Kern County (pictured) will add 88 MW/352-MWh of vitality storage, whereas the 204-MW Tranquility Solar Facility in Fresno County will add 72 MW/288 MWh of BESS capability.
Both tasks are scheduled to come back on-line in 2021.
