Southern California Edison awarded Southern Power two 20-year energy buy agreements (PPAs). The wholesale producer is including the power storage to the Tranquility and Garland photo voltaic farms.

For the Garland Solar Facility in Kern County, California, 88 MW and 352 MWh of power storage will likely be added, whereas 72 MW and 288 MWh will likely be added to the Tranquility Solar Facility in Fresno County, California.

The power storage initiatives will likely be owned in partnership with AIP Management (on behalf of Danish pension funds PKA and PenSam) and Global Atlantic Financial Group, each of which have current possession pursuits within the Garland and Tranquility photo voltaic amenities that went into industrial operation in 2016. Southern Power operates the photo voltaic initiatives and will likely be chargeable for working the power storage initiatives upon completion.
The 200-MW Tranquility photo voltaic farm started operations in 2016 and was developed by Canadian Solar subsidiary Recurrent Energy. It is situated on 1,900 acres of retired agricultural land.
