Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has been named as the popular provider by Danish power firm Ørsted for its 900 MW Greater Changhua offshore windpower tasks in Taiwan.

The deal is for round 112 of Siemens Gamesa’s eight MW offshore wind generators, plus a service settlement.

Once the ultimate contract is signed, Siemens Gamesa will arrange a nacelle meeting facility close to Taichung Harbour, which is predicted to be prepared by 2021 and offshore development is ready to start out in 2021.

Wind turbine towers for the tasks can be equipped domestically by a partnership between CS Wind and Chin Fong in Taiwan.

Andreas Nauen, chief government of the Offshore Business Unit at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, mentioned the Greater Changhua deal “represents an especially important leap ahead for SGRE in Taiwan”.

The direct drive turbine that can be used for the undertaking is particularly constructed for the Asia-Pacific market. It meets native codes and requirements concerning typhoons, seismic actions, 60 Hertz operation, in addition to operation in excessive and low ambient temperatures. It has a 167-meter diameter rotor and a swept space of 21,900 m2.
